I first met Denny Bales in 1967

I was in 8th grade, and was the photographer for the school newspaper. His band "Friends of Melvin" was the top 7th grade band in the jr high school. I was assigned to photograph their performance

I remember watching Denny grow from a student, to a master. I shared his excitement as he discovered the magic of music

He has been my friend, teacher and musical mentor for over 40 years

And...he writes great music!
