About

This was the one of the last pieces recorded at the church
I no longer worked at Fender, and had moved to an apartment in Chattsworth
It was harder to finish than most, but..we finished..just in time

Lyrics

You can make the people stand in line
All night to see you play
Make em' buy your records
By the thousands every day

Make em' think you're greater than
The greatest superstar
Make em' fall in love with you
By playing your guitar

But can you make em' think it's art

You can fill the Grand Ol' Opry hall
In Nashville Tennessee
Win every country song award
They give out on TV

At every Texas barbecue
The cowboys drinking beer
Will be whistling your melodies
While they're butchering a steer

But can you make em' think it's art

You can make em' hate the president
And make em' give up hope
Sing songs describing grisly ways
Of murdering the pope

Tell em' all that's wrong about
The stinking human race
Make em' scream obscenities
While you're spitting in their face

But can you make em' think it's art

You can deafen them with decibels
From fifty Marshall stacks
With a custom made guitar
Shaped like a bloody battle axe

You can sing sweet songs to satan
While crawling in the mud
Bite the heads off rabid bats
And smear yourself with blood

But can you make em' think it's art
